Progressive Expands Cargo Plus Coverage to 19 More States — Now Available in 42 States

At Charles Cain Group, we’re always keeping an eye on industry updates that benefit our trucking clients — and here's some great news straight from Progressive.

Starting April 16, 2025, Progressive is rolling out their Cargo Plus endorsement to 19 additional states, offering broader Motor Truck Cargo protection at no extra cost to truckers. This expanded coverage now applies in 42 states total, giving more carriers access to enhanced protection for their cargo.

Here’s What’s New with Cargo Plus:

• Additional Covered Perils:

  • Damage from wetness, rust, and corrosion is now included.

  • Driver error and temperature changes on refrigerated loads are also covered, for those who carry Refrigeration Breakdown coverage.

    
    

• Automatic Upgrade:

  • If you’re already a Progressive customer in one of the newly added states and have Motor Truck Cargo coverage, you’ll automatically receive this broader protection starting April 16.

  • Current policyholders will get a Notice of Coverage Expansion with the details, and any new Cargo policies written from April 16 forward will include the updated form.

    
    

States Now Included in the Cargo Plus Expansion:

• Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
